As you probably know if you follow us, the Mayfair presented Night of the Living Dead Live. I got a chance to attend, but sadly have not had the time to write a review, so here is a short blurb for those who didn’t make it. I didn’t know what to expect, because I didn’t know exactly what ‘live’ would mean, but it turned out to be a pretty amazing evening. The theatre was packed with people standing to see the show as voice actors performed the dialogue and an orchestra of sorts (too small to be an orchestra, too big to be a band) played music they had written for the background and created all the other sounds that were heard during the movie. More than once I jumped in my seat due to a crash of the cymbals as something unexpected happened on screen. It was a treat for the eyes and the ears as the cast added a little something extra to the lines of the on screen actors making their comments and reactions seem even more ridiculous. The film itself is always a classic and is worth watching when you’re in the mood for some overacting and sexism mixed with zombies and cannibalism. I would definitely recommend live movies to anyone, even if they are not horror fans.
I have heard rumor of another live show to be done in the near future, so if you missed this one, keep an eye out so you can enjoy this unique brand of cinema that can only be found at the Mayfair.
